Import Export Code

Get it Registered at Rs 2,999

What is IEC Registration?

Obtain your Import Export Code (IEC) Registration online through the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) portal under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. A mandatory 10-digit PAN-based business identifier, an active IEC serves as the primary gateway for Indian businesses, startups, merchant exporters, service providers, and manufacturers to engage in cross-border trade, clear shipments with Indian Customs (ICEGATE), and receive inward foreign currency remittances through banking channels.

Our end-to-end registration service covers the complete DGFT ANF-2A application process: setting up your user profile on Govt Website, mapping legal entity details (Proprietorship, Partnership, LLP, or Private Limited), and uploading mandatory supporting documents including PAN proof, business address verification, and cancelled cheque/bank certificate copies. Applications are validated via Aadhaar OTP or Class-3 Digital Signature Certificates (DSC).

Upon DGFT verification, your lifetime-valid IEC Certificate is generated matching your 10-digit PAN. Launch your export-import operations with full access to government incentives under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) such as RoDTEP, RoSCTL, Duty Drawback, and advance authorizations backed by guidance on mandatory Annual IEC KYC Updates (April–June window) to prevent deactivation.

Frequently Asked Questions

An Import Export Code (IEC) is a mandatory 10-digit unique business identification number issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It is legally required for any business or individual in India engaging in the import or export of goods or specific service cross-border transactions

No, GST registration is not mandatory to apply for an IEC. Individuals or proprietorship firms can obtain an IEC using their personal PAN. However, if your business is registered under GST, your 10-digit IEC will automatically mirror your entity’s PAN number

IEC is mandatory for all exporters of physical goods. Service exporters require an IEC if they wish to claim export incentives and benefits under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) such as SEIS or RoDTEP or if they deal with cross-border financial transactions requiring ICEGATE or customs clearance

  • Entity / Personal Proof: PAN Card of the applicant/entity, Aadhaar card or Voter ID/Passport of the proprietor/partner/director.

  • Business Address Proof: Sale deed, rent agreement, or recent utility bill (electricity, water, landline bill not older than 2 months) with an NOC from the property owner.

  • Banking Proof: Cancelled cheque or bank certificate showing the applicant’s entity name, account number, and IFSC code.

  • Digital Authentication: Class-3 Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) or Aadhaar-linked mobile number for OTP verification.

An IEC code is valid for a lifetime and does not expire. However, under DGFT regulations, every IEC holder must complete a mandatory annual IEC update/KYC validation on the DGFT portal between April 1 and June 30 every year even if there are no changes in business details

If you fail to update or confirm your details by June 30, the DGFT system automatically deactivates your IEC. An inactive IEC halts all import/export shipments, blocks customs clearance on ICEGATE, and restricts foreign currency inward/outward bank transfers. You can reactivate it anytime by completing the pending update on the DGFT portal.

Once you submit Form ANF-2A on dgft.gov.in and complete e-verification via Aadhaar OTP or Class-3 DSC, approval is system-driven and practically instant. The 10-digit PAN-based IEC Certificate is typically issued in PDF format within 24 to 48 hours.
